Here we have an excellent, low mileage example of the Defy Advanced Pro 2. These bikes are the sweet spot in terms of top spec equipment at a low price. This bike won Cycling Weekly’s Endurance bike of the year up against much more expensive competition. So what do you get? Advanced grade (higher modulus) carbon fibre frame and fork. Shimano Ultegra Drivetrain, Hydraulic Brakes, Giant SL 1 Disc Wheels and Ride Sense all at a very reasonable price point. A well cared for example like this is a second owner bargain at £1499.

The geometry is perfect for long days in the saddle and will help to eat up the miles. The cycling weekly review also comments on how sharp it feels when you do decide to put the power down. So it’s no slouch.

The colour is awesome too, the photos don’t do it justice but it’s a lovely deep metallic blue. It originally had white bar tape but I’ve just installed brand new black, which gives it a much meaner look.

The frame has a built in Ride Sense Speed/Cadence sensor which will transmit data via ANT+ to a cycle computer of your choice. If you stick it on a regular turbo trainer it will also connect to Zwift with an ANT+ Dongle.

Drivetrain is Shimano Ultegra so you know its good. Second only to Dura Ace, Ultegra components are found on seriously expensive bikes. The first owner wanted to swap the gearing to give him more spin up the hills so it’s had an R8000 upgrade. The new medium cage rear derailleur is built to handle this larger 34 tooth cassette. This allows you to push a higher cadence to get to the top of the climb. I’ve sold plenty of bikes with a 32 but if you want a gear to get you up any climb in the country then this 34 is it.

Disc brakes completely change how fast you can ride a road bike. Attack every descent with confidence knowing you’ve got the stopping power to get yourself out of trouble if required. Braking on this bike is courtesy of Shimano’s Hydraulic RS-785 Calipers with 140mm Rotors.

The wheels are Giant SL1 Disc so they’re light, stiff and quick to spin up. The tyres are Schwalbe Durano Raceguard made from dual compounds to provide exceptional grip in all weathers. The Raceguard technology makes them one of the most puncture resistant tyres on the market.

The overall condition of the bike is excellent, there are a couple of small cosmetic marks to the frame from storage but nothing to detract from what a good looking steed this is.

I’ve just serviced the bike with new shift cables, indexed the gears and checked all the bolts so this bike is ready to hit the road this weekend in total confidence. If you have any questions about the bike (or road cycling in general) then just give me a shout. I’m a cycle mechanic and I prepare all the bikes I sell meticulously so that I can offer you complete piece of mind when buying a second hand road bike. If you have a bike you'd like to part exchange then that can be arranged. Just drop me a message with the details.

Socially distant collection preferred from a public meeting place in Sheffield. I can ship the bike but that would have to be at your risk/cost and prearranged before sale. It’s easy, you just book the collection online yourself and I’ll package it up in a bike box to ensure it gets to you without being damaged.

I can include a set of flat pedals in the sale if you need them or I can offer a range of clip in pedals for purchase.
