Ask any Cannondale fan which bike they would buy if they won the lottery and chances are they’ll be buying a “Black Inc.”

These are limited edition flagship versions of regular models, which have an eye watering specification (and price!). They are dream bikes but they only come in one colour; stealth black.

Here at Ryan’s Push Irons I have an obsession with Black Inc bikes as they’re just so rare and special. I first sold a CAAD10 Black Inc and now I’ve found this beauty. The Synapse Carbon Hi-Mod Disc Black Inc.

The name is a mouthful so I’ll try and brake it down…

Synapse (Cannondale Legendary Endurance Frame)

Carbon (They make it in Carbon and Alluminium)

Hi-Mod (High Modulus Carbon Fibre. Stiffer and much more expensive)

Disc (It comes with Disc Brakes)

Black Inc (Top of the top of the range)

The price tag in 2015 was £6999 but for this version (2016) they had to reduce it to £5999 in an attempt to sell a few more units. I’m not sure if it worked as this is currently the only used one for sale on ebay in the UK.

The Frame

Synapse S.E.R.G. geometry offers the perfect balance between an all out race position and a more upright position so it’s ideal for fast sportives or smashing your Strava segments on the road. The SAVE PLUS micro-suspension technology in the rear triangle and fork absorb more of the road to give a much smoother ride.

The High Modulus Carbon Fibre used to construct this frame is called BallisTec. It’s about as light/stiff as light/stiff gets! Hence why it’s so expensive.

GROUPSET

Dura Ace Di2 Electronic shifting is the pinnacle of the Shimano Groupset Range. Once you’ve ridden with Di2 you’ll never want to go back to pressing in a shift lever again. Especially Dura Ace Di2… The shifting is effortless, instant and precise. It’s as good as it gets.

The Crankset is one of the stiffest/lightest on the market too. The Cannondale HollowGram SiSL2 with Compact 50/34 Spideings. The BB30 Bottom Bracket has just been serviced for optimum power transfer. Cassette is Dura Ace 11-28t.

When it comes to stopping power on a speed machine you need Hydraulic Disc Brakes. These Shimano BR-RS785 Calipers have just had fresh J02A Resin Brake pads installed for piece of mind. The RT-99 Rotors are true and have 3mm of metal left so no need to replace just yet. I’ve just bled and replaced with fresh genuine Shimano Mineral Oil.

WHEELS

A bike of this quality needs a Carbon Wheelset and the previous owner placed his trust in local wheelbuilder ZED to provide a handbuilt ELITE 50mm Carbon Weave package at a cost of £849. These weigh in at around 1400g for the pair and get this bike up to speed in no time. They look pretty cool too!

I’ve just installed brand new 28mm Continental GP 5000 Tubeless Tyres as part of this bike’s Gold service. These tyres are widely regarded as one of the best on the market and have a list price of £70 per tyre. You wouldn’t put budget tyres on a Ferrari so this bike deserves the best.

The finishing kit spec matches that of the rest of this bike. Carbon Bars, FSA SL-K Carbon Seatpost, Pro-logo Saddle, Cannondale Stem. The whole package comes together to have the BEST Push Iron I’ve ever had through my workshop. Full Stop.

In terms of condition there are a few small cosmetic marks on the frame and some on the front wheel from storage. The frame has never been crashed/dropped and I’ve inspected it thoroughly for any signs of structure damage. The shifters have some cosmetic scuffs too but I can order you some new nameplates if it really bothers you.

This bike has been hung in a Garage for quite a while so it needed a full Gold service to prepare it for the new owner. I’ve fitted new Shimano Brake Pads, Tyres, Skewers and wrapped the handlebars in FSA Powertouch tape. In addition the Bottom Bracket has been serviced with new bearings, the hydraulic brakes have been bled and now this bike is ready to hit the road in total confidence.

Here are a few key figures as to how I have valued this bike.

RRP = £5999.99

50% RRP = £2999.99

New Parts Cost – c £1100

The only other ones on ebay are priced at £4k and £3k but they’re in Germany and the Ukraine. Framesets are going for around £1350 but again they’re overseas.

Therefore I think the bike is a bargain at £2500 which is UNDER half of the original cost and not counting the Service/New Parts.

I would say that this bike sizes up larger than you might think for a 51cm. If you normally ride a larger frame you’re more than welcome to have a sit on this to see if you can get comfortable. I took the bike for a lovely test ride and I’m 5’8”. I’ve seen some Cannondale sizing charts that max out a 51cm at 5’9” so you might be surprised.

If you have any questions about the bike (or road cycling in general) then just give me a shout. I’m a cycle mechanic and I prepare all the bikes I sell meticulously so that I can offer you complete piece of mind when buying a second hand road bike. If you have a bike you'd like to part exchange then that can be arranged. Just drop me a message with the details.

Socially distant collection preferred from Walkley, Sheffield. I can ship the bike but that would have to be at your risk/cost and prearranged BEFORE sale.

I can include a set of flat pedals in the sale if you need them or I can offer a range of clip in pedals for purchase.

Once again, any questions then please give me a shout and be quick. My bikes don’t last long.

Thanks…

Ryan
