WOW! So where do I start? Here we have a bike purchased directly from Team Sky following the conclusion of their historic 2012 season. This was the epic year that Bradley Wiggins became the first ever Brit to win the Tour de France and he did it on one of these bikes from the same garage. Everything about 2012 was truly special. Mark Cavendish joined Team Sky (wearing the Rainbow Jersey) and despite being a glorified bottle boy for three weeks he still took victory on the Champs-Élysées riding a Pinarello Dogma 2.

This bike belonged to Ben Swift but was designated a spare and wasn’t raced. It was purchased by a friend of Ben’s at the end of the season and has been cared for (and upgraded) ever since. The bike has a special Team Sky paint job, which includes a cycling mantra on the top tube. Every time you look down you will remember you’re riding a piece of history. Ben’s name also remains underneath the Fizik Arione Carbon Rail saddle, it’s subtle but if you choose to reveal it on the coffee stop, it is sure to get attention. Given the history of this bike and it’s part in the 2012 campaign, it is sure to appreciate in value making it a very sound investment.

I don’t think I need to write too much about just how good the Pinarello Dogma is. It is the most successful racing bicycle in recent years. Team Sky has won the Tour de France on a Dogma in 7 of the last 9 years.

I can tell you about the spec on this particular Dogma though. It has a Dura Ace 9000 series groupset, which has been upgraded with a new internal seatpost battery (March 2020), EW-RS910 bar end junction box and EWWU111 Wireless (Bluetooth) unit. This brings it right up to date with the latest functionality from the newest flagship Shimano range. The shifters have buttons built into the top of the hoods, which can be used to control features on your Garmin. The unit will also send gearing/battery data to be displayed on your cycling computer. How cool is that?

The shifting itself is pure perfection. Dura Ace Di2 Electronic shifting is the pinnacle of the Shimano Groupset Range, it’s as good as it gets!

The drivetrain consists of a new 53/39 Chainset, 11/28 Dura Ace Cassette and a KMC X11-EL Gold Chain.

The wheels are Zipp 303 Firecrest in excellent condition. They have only been used with genuine Zipp brake pads and the braking surface is showing no signs of damage. Again, I could write forever about just how good these wheels are. An equivalent new set of 303’s would cost you a shade under £2000 today.

I’ve just put on some nearly new Continental GP4000s II 25mm tyres. These have seen very little mileage and are widely regarded as one of the best all round tyres on the market.

The rest of the finishing kit is how it came from Team Sky. Pro Vibe 7s Stem is the stiffest there is. Pro Vibe Anatomic Bars will make you feel like every ride is a race.

In terms of cosmetic condition I would describe is as excellent for an ex pro team bike. There are a few small cosmetic scuffs/lacquer chips but no damage to the frame. I’ve created a google drive folder with over 50 hi-res photographs of this beautiful bike so be sure to study them closely. I take picture requests if there is any other aspect of the bike you’d like to see close up then please just ask.

I’ve just serviced the bike, indexed the gears and checked all the bolts so this bike is ready to hit the road this weekend in total confidence. If you have any questions then just give me a shout. I’m a cycle mechanic and I prepare all the bikes I sell meticulously so that I can offer you complete piece of mind when buying a second hand road bike. If you have a bike you'd like to part exchange then that can be arranged. Just drop me a message with the details.

Socially distant collection preferred from a public meeting place in Sheffield. I can ship the bike with Paisley Freight but that would have to be at your risk/cost and prearranged BEFORE sale. It’s easy, you just book the collection online and I’ll package it up in a bike box to ensure it gets to you without being damaged.

I can include a set of flat pedals in the sale if you need them or I can offer a range of clip in pedals for purchase.

Once again, any questions then please give me a shout and be quick. My bikes don’t last long.

Thanks…

Ryan
